The Career Starter
- The situation: J struggled to find a graduate entry job after graduating from a top university with a BSc and MSc.
- The coaching objective: Securing a graduate job during the pandemic with tough competition
The situation
J struggled to find a graduate entry job after graduating from a top university Her industry’s working model is via consulting services but this felt very challenging for a new graduate. the area she operates in is highly competitive and J felt that she first wanted to develop her general business and managerial skill set by working with others.
Working together
With that in mind, we worked on identifying her achievements and existing skill set. We explored, where she wanted to live, what values influence her job search and her strengths and transferrable skills. In addition, J started to think outside the box and looked at industries she had not considered previously. We worked on identifying what job search routine worked for her and I held her accountable for achieving milestones.
The outcome
J was offered a job allowing her to work in her main field of interest and gain managerial experience.
The systemic aspect
J wanted to be able to explore living in a larger city, so finding a job in London allowed to focus on her social life in her mid-twenties. The working hours also allowed her to continue her key hobby – semi-professional team sports.
