Meet Tina - Your Certified career and leadership coach
Hi, I'm Tina
I started my career at EY, one of the Big Four international accountancy and advisory firms, as a Chartered Accountant before moving into finance and operational roles with start-ups and SMEs in and around Cambridge. I work with a variety of clients, some are organisations who want to offer coaching as career and leadership development tool, some are individuals who want to explore career options, enhance their leadership skills and impact and proactively take ownership of their career direction.
My Experience
I am a certified coach, having obtained my qualification at Cambridge University via the Undergraduate Coaching Certificate Programme. This programme is accredited by the Association of Coaching (AC).
I am a Career Developer and Career Changer myself and can relate to what you as an employee experience; learning on the job when moving from accounting practice into industry, via various development programmes, including the Senior Leadership Programme run by the Moller Institute (part of Churchill College, Cambridge) which sparked my interest in Talent Management and Career Development. I have recently completed a Masters in Psychology allowing me to underpin my coaching with an in-depth understanding of psychology.
I am a Chartered Accountant, experienced CFO/COO (with more than ten years of experience in senior leadership roles). I have worked in a number of industries in the SME sector ranging from start-ups, Venture Capital and Private Equity backed businesses to family owned UK and US businesses with European operations. My experience lies in working as part of a senior leadership team responsible for strategy and financial planning, being an experienced HR leader with experience in Talent Acquisition, Retention and Talent and Career Development.
My eight years of working for EY have provided me with an understanding of the rewards and challenges of providing professional services so I can relate to your world of work as advisor and consultant.
Having moved countries myself, I understand what challenges arise when settling into a new country, adjusting to the new culture and finding your feet both in work and your personal life.
As a working parent, I can understand the challenges of managing both home and work life and ensuring that you look after yourself as well.
At the core of my work is coaching but, when beneficial to my client, I can include mentoring to deepen and support the work from our sessions with targeted exercises and planning tasks.
“One of the key prerequisites for a successful coaching outcome is the chemistry between the coach and coaching client. Trust and rapport built between both parties is crucial.”
My approach
I use a systemic coaching approach that considers all aspects of your life that are important to you. Often, our identity is largely influenced by who we are in work but we also have other roles – the life partner, the parent, the captain of your sports team, the foodie, the musician and the best friend. When areas that are important to us do not get the attention you want to give them, career dissatisfaction can arise. You may be aware of their impact on your work life, you may not. And vice versa, challenges we face in work can easily become noticeable to others we interact with outside work.
Free Initial consultation, as standard
To help you find the right coach, I usually propose a free-of-charge initial session so we can get to know each other and explore what you hope to gain from coaching and see whether you can picture working with me. Sometimes the chemistry is there, sometimes it isn’t and another coach is better placed to work with you.
To help you to decide whether I could be your future coach, I summarised in a nutshell who I am, what my experience is. Looking at my coaching approach and philosophy section will help you gain an idea of how I coach.
